  • ​Good photos and a clean, easy to read layout. Warren’s writing is engaging and passionate.
  • ​A useful map at the start of each section gives you an idea of where each climb is within the region.
  • ​It’s an inspiring list that could challenge you to new adventures. The hills are usually in fantastic cycling territory, and so form a great base from which to explore the region further.
  • ​Each entry contains a fact file with a small map showing a start and finish point, length, height gain, approximate time needed to ride each hill and Warren’s rating.
  • ​The book is pocket sized, so it’s easy to stash in your bag.

  • ​As with any list, there will be some controversy. Some point to the fact there are very few entries for Scotland compared with the south-east of England for example.
  • ​You won’t find average gradients or tips on likely traffic on the route.
