Helly Hansen warm base layer: warm freeze 1/2 zip thermal base layer top with merino
Helly Hansen are one of the oldest and most legendary outdoor clothing companies around. They know how to create great kit.
Though they don’t seem to particularly market their products to cyclists, I’ve been using Helly Hansen warm base layers every Winter for at least the last ten years. For me, they’re the perfect riding base layer.

I particularly love the warm freeze ½ zip cycling base layer as it’s soft and warm. It keeps my skin dry and, even after I’ve climbed a hill or two, doesn’t seem to smell.
If you’re looking for a road cycling base layer, look no further.
